Patrick McGeoghegan
PRESIDENT
Patrick is a current second-year medical student at Baylor College of Medicine. His interest in giving back to the community began watching his dad grow a charity that provided financial assistance to local families in need. Prior to medical school, he worked in the Boston Children’s Hospital department of cardiology. There he met with kids who were dealing with an array of heart issues, and he would often hear their concerns about joining or returning to sports. So, he decided to begin a charity focused on heart safety in youth sports, so kids like them wouldn’t have to worry about their hearts while playing sports. For the past three years, he has grown the National Youth Sports AED Program in his home state of Massachusetts. Now, he is excited to begin a new chapter in Houston with like-minded medical students. He believes that NYSAP, with the help of a team of dedicated medical students, will help set the standard for sudden cardiac arrest awareness and preparedness in youth sports.

He believes that teaching BLS to the community can make a meaningful difference and save lives and is excited to help expand NYSAP's reach and impact in the Houston youth sports community.

This experience fueled his passion for emergency prehospital care, where he witnessed firsthand the critical importance of immediate CPR and early defibrillation in cases of sudden cardiac arrest. As treasurer, Evert aims to secure funding to strengthen these principles in out-of-hospital sudden cardiac arrest management, with the goal of improving outcomes in the Houston area. He aspires to become a surgeon, and his research interests include surgical outcomes, innovative surgical techniques, and the application of machine learning in surgery.

She aims to build partnerships by harnessing existing relationships with the other medical schools in Houston, as well as expanding these connections across the nation to help establish chapters at other schools. Through innovative programming, optimized communication, and strategic partnerships, she is committed to creating a lasting impact.

Ethan Low
ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF OUTREACH
Ethan Low is a second year medical student at Baylor College of Medicine. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame where he studied biochemistry with a minor in compassionate care in medicine. Ethan’s passion for medicine began as a child when his parents bought him a pop-up book with 3D depiction of the anatomic structures of the body. In undergrad he was a care manager at a local nursing home as well as a research coordinator focusing on pain management in vulnerable populations. As a medical student, Ethan has focused his efforts on patient-education and quality improvement with the hopes of improving patient outcomes in his local Houston community. As NYSAP’s Associated Director of Outreach, Ethan will continue his passions in these fields while also raising awareness for the importance of cardiac arrest preparedness in youth sports.
